Seguramente mucha gente ha tenido un hijo, escrito un libro, plantado un árbol....pero, ¿Quién ha plantado un bosque?

Esta es la maravillosa historia que vive el protagonista de este relato, que no solo plantó un árbol, sino un bosque entero...

"Para que el carácter de una persona realmente revele sus cualidades excepcionales, hay que tener la buena suerte de poder observar su conducta durante muchos años. Si se trata de un comportamiento desprovisto de egoísmo si el principio que lo anima es una generosidad sin precedentes, sin ningún afán de recompensa, y si ese proceder, por añadidura, ha dejado una huella visible sobre la faz de la tierra, entonces no podemos equivocarnos".

Así comienza el relato de Jean Giono, uno de los más bellos cantos de amor a la naturaleza. Es un breve cuento de fácil lectura, pero su sencillez no debe llamar a engaño, o como dejo dicho otro poeta "la sencillez es la grandeza". El relato de Giono alcanza esa grandeza, su mensaje es semilla potente si cae en terreno fértil, de hecho, y valga el ejemplo, ha sido motivo de inspiración para innumerables campañas de reforestación.

El relato fue llevado al cine por Frédéric Back, que cosechó bastantes premios, entre ellos el Oscar al mejor cortometraje de animación en 1988. Aquí publico el corto original en inglés, y una versión en castellano narrada por Lara López, locutora de Radio 3 y musicada por el saxofonista Paul Winter...
