Sin Piel 2009 - Without Skin 2009
Unas 100 personas desnudas han simulado el pasado domingo en Barcelona ser un montón de animales muertos para protestar contra la industria peletera, un acto que realiza cada año AnimaNaturalis para criticar el elevado número de animales que se sacrifican para elaborar prendas de piel.
Los participantes se mancharon con sangre artificial y se amontonaron en las escaleras de la plaza del Rei de Barcelona, con una pancarta en la que se podía leer en varios idiomas Cuántas vidas para un abrigo.
Según declaró a los medios de comunicación la ONG AnimaNaturalis, el 85% de la producción europea de piel es originaria de animales criados en granjas, donde están hacinados en diminutas jaulas y son sacrificados por electrocución anal o genital para no dañar las pieles, lo que les causa un paro cardiaco mientras están todavía conscientes.
Otros métodos de matanza son romperles el cuello o ahogarlos, y en ocasiones las pieles se arrancan mientras los animales están vivos. Para hacer un solo abrigo de piel, se necesitan 20 zorros, 60 conejos, 70 visones o de 120 a 300 chinchillas.

Antony and the Johnsons es un grupo musical procedente de Nueva York liderado por el cantante y pianista Antony Hegarty, quien también es el compositor de todas sus canciones. Más que un grupo en sentido clásico, The Johnsons se puede considerar la banda de acompañamiento de Antony, quien da toda la personalidad al proyecto.
Antony Hagerty nació en Chichester, ciudad de la región de West Sussex en el Reino Unido en el año 1971. En 1977 se trasladó a Amsterdam y en 1981 se estableció en San José, California. En su adolescencia fue un gran seguidor del Synth pop, especialmente de artistas como Boy George y Marc Almond, líder de Soft Cell. En 1990 se estableció definitivamente en Nueva York para estudiar Teatro experimental en la Universidad de Nueva York.
Su carrera musical comenzó cuando creó un grupo de performance llamado Black Lips Performance Club que más tarde se transformaría en su banda de acompañamiento. El grupo estaba formado por Julia Kent (violonchelo), Todd Cohen (batería), Jeff Langston (bajo), Joan Wasser (violín, voz y percusión), Maxim Moston (violín) y Rob Moose (guitarra y violín).
La personalidad del grupo está unida indiscutiblemente a la de Antony, cuya poco frecuente voz le emparenta con artistas como Nina Simone o Aaron Neville, de los Neville Brothers. Su música, en la que además de su voz destaca el acompañamiento de piano, le acerca a géneros como el jazz y el soul más intimista. Asimismo, sus letras se caracterizan por tratar diversos aspectos de la vida transexual, ya que Antony se considera como tal. Algunas de sus canciones con esta temática son My Lady Story o For Today I’m a Boy, en la que un niño sueña con hacerse mayor para poder convertirse en una mujer.

Exposición en la Escuela de Arte León Ortega de Huelva
La Escuela de Arte León Ortega acoge en su Sala de Exposiciones la muestra colectiva de fotografía "Fotoprotesta, por una Huelva sin contaminación", de la que ya hablamos anteriormente. Esta exposición se compone de obras fotográficas realizadas por distintos autores con imágenes que intentan acercarse al problema del entorno medioambiental de la ciudad de Huelva desde diversos planteamientos, que van desde lo irónico a lo poético, pasando por lo descriptivo o lo fantástico, utilizando para ello variados formatos y técnicas fotográficas.
Esta exposición se inauguró ayer 15 de Enero y en ella participan: Alfonso Boullon, Estrella Clavijo, Jose F. Corrales, Ana Escobar, Pedro jiménez, José M. Lamuedra, Diego Mesa, Adolfo Morales, Josefa Palma, Markel Redondo, Miguel Revés y Alberto Vega. Hasta el próximo 30 de enero y en horario de 11 a 13 horas y 18 a 21 horas podrá ser visitada en la sede de la Escuela de Arte León Ortega, en la Avda. Escultora Miss Whitney, 56 de Huelva.

David LaChapelle - Grandes fotógrafos - Great photographers
David Lachapelle nació en Fairfield, Connecticut, el 11 de marzo de 1969. Su primer acercamiento a la fotografía fue cuando tenía 6 años de edad, durante unas vacaciones familiares en Puerto Rico. Allí utilizó la cámara para retratar a su madre, Helga LaChapelle, quien vestía un bikini y bebía champaña en un balcón. Desde ese momento, quedó obsesionado con la fotografía.
A los 15 años se mudó a Nueva York. Mintió sobre su edad y consiguió trabajo en la discoteca Studio 54, donde limpiaba las mesas de grandes celebridades y artistas, como Andy Warhol y Liza Minelli. Más tarde, su padre lo tomaría y lo llevaría de regreso al sur, donde lo obligó a estudiar en la Escuela de Artes de Carolina del Norte. Sólo había 30 estudiantes en su curso, por lo que la enseñanza impartida fue excepcional.
Tras su regreso a Nueva York, a los 18 años, entró a trabajar al bar gay Browns. La necesidad económica hizo que David aceptara la propuesta de un sujeto, quien pidió que le practicara una felación a cambio de dinero.
LaChapelle ingresó en la Liga de Estudiantes de Arte y a la Escuela de Artes Visuales. En esa época, fue él mismo quien se presentó ante el artista multimedial Andy Warhol en un concierto de rock. Andy le ofreció su primer trabajo como fotógrafo de la revista Interview.
Las descabelladas imágenes de David LaChapelle, bizarras y fantásticas, han aparecido en las páginas y portadas de las revistas Vogue, Rolling Stone, i-D, Vibe, Interview, The Face y GQ, sólo por nombrar algunas.
Su incondicional dedicación a la originalidad es leyenda dentro del mundo de la moda, el cine y la publicidad. LaChapelle ha participado en campañas publicitarias para una variedad de clientes que incluyen L’Oreal, Iceberg, MTV, Ecko, Diesel Jeans, Sirius, Ford, Sky Vodka y la campaña Got Milk?.
David ha fotografiado numerosas portadas de discos para artistas de la talla de Macy Gray, Moby, No Doubt, Whitney Houston, Elton John, Christina Aguilera y Madonna.
Su exitoso primer libro, LaChapelle Land, fue publicado en 1996 por la editorial Collaway, trayendo dentro de su extravante envoltorio, una explosiva colección de retratos de celebridades y modelos, incluyendo a Madonna, Leonardo DiCaprio, Pamela Anderson, Uma Thurman, Marilyn Manson, Mark Wahlberg, Drew Barrymore y Elton John. El sucesor de éste debut fue el libro Hotel LaChapelle, también editado por Collaway en 1999, donde se exhiben imágenes frescas con inolvidables colores. LaChapelle continúa logrando fotografías que confrontan nuestros gustos visuales, dando una nueva mirada al paisaje actual.
Pensar la fotografía como una acción puramente instintiva es posible gracias al fotógrafo David LaChapelle. Este famoso fotógrafo estadounidense hace de sus creaciones artísticas un canal de transmisión que excita las emociones. En sus obras de arte podemos rememorar lo que nos constituye como humanos; seres viscerales, pasionales, excepcionales. Y el arte, recordando a Borges, “debe ser ese espejo que nos revela nuestra propia cara”.

Se planteó que dirigiese el videoclip de "Sorry" de Madonna, pero lo planteó con un toque de sordidez similar a "Dirrty", y Madonna finalmente eligió a otro director que diese un toque más optimista.
David LaChapelle was born in Fairfield, Connecticut, on March 11, 1969. Their first approach was to photography when he was 6 years old, during a family holiday in Puerto Rico. They used the camera to portray his mother, Helga LaChapelle, who wore a bikini and drank champagne on a balcony. Since that time, became obsessed with photography.
